LEGAL
West's Alaska Digest is a finding tool that summarizes court decisions found in the reporters and indexes points of law found in court decisions published each year. Classified by our attorney-editors, it allows you to begin your research with whatever information is available, such as a case name, defendant or plaintiff name, legal concept, or simply the facts of a specific situation. The West Key Number System lets you determine with certainty if no state caselaw exists on a point, and then allows you to easily expand your research to other jurisdictions. Features include:
• Topic and Key Numbers to locate reported caselaw on your specific point of law
• Digest paragraphs, classified to specific Key Numbers
• Case citations in each digest paragraph that direct you to the full text
• Library references and research notes that lead you to collateral materials in C.J.S. and other sources
• Headnotes crafted by our attorney-editors that summarize the holdings of a judicial opinion, incorporating key facts and reasoning
• A Descriptive Word Index that indexes terms of art and legal terminology to unlock the door to relevant decisions
• A table of cases that includes citations, subsequent case history, and Key Numbers classifying each point of law
• Words and Phrases volumes that alphabetically list words or phrases judicially defined in the indexed cases
• Translation tables that translate former Key Numbers to new Key Numbers, and new Key Numbers to former Key Numbers
• Pocket parts and supplementary pamphlets that keep you informed of the most recent cases
