The core focus of Principles of the law, Data Privacy is on how people and organizations engaged in business or professional activities use personal data in their relations with data subjects—the individuals to whom the data pertain. Thus, covered personal data activities include those involving, or intending to involve, the sale and provision of goods or services or the functioning of institutions or organizations.
This project is organized around key Fair Information Practice Principles (FIPPs). FIPPs establish duties and responsibilities for entities that process personal data. They also describe the interests that people should have regarding their data.
These Principles will be of use in addressing the difficult questions raised by the pervasive use of personal data, including vital questions of public health, as well as financial and personal safety of individuals.
