Tort Law addresses all of the important developments in the area of tort law in Louisiana. For example, the 1996 tort revision legislation substantially eliminated a vast amount of jurisprudence, establishing the correct analysis of the strict liability regime initiated by the court in the early 1970s. Along with the substantive change to the strict liability regime came the modification of comparative fault and the elimination of solidary liability among joint tortfeasors, raising substantial issues of prescription and ultimate liability.
This work also analyzes the rising importance of discrimination statutes and provides comprehensive coverage of tort issues. Its author, Professor William E. Crawford, helped draft the proposal that later became the current Louisiana Products Liability Act.
